About Me
Everyone has a story to tell and mine is not too different form the countless number of parents who find themselves caught between their career and their family
I started my career many years ago as an IT Consultant with Deloitte. Being a Consultant allowed me to work across many sectors including government, private and non-profit. It also provided me with the opportunity to explore various roles in IT such as Technical Writer, System Designer and Business Analyst.
As much as I loved my career, I found the travel demands too overwhelming to juggle with a family. After much consideration, I chose family and a part-time job as a Montgomery County Substitute Teacher whereby I can be home when my children were home.
Fast forward many years and a few classes later, I was fortunate to restart my career as a Software Test Engineer. In the past few years, I have contracted with The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), The Census Bureau and the Treasury Department on several projects. As a Quality Assurance Analyst, I have not only tested front and backend applications, but have written and implemented CMMi standards.
In an effort to “catch up” and make up for my absence in corporate America, I have taken various courses over the part few years, including this series of classes in Front-End Web Development. My hope is that these classes will not only expand my knowledge but provide options for a possible career change.
